About the role
City of Newcastle (CN) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital works projects that enhance existing assets and create new infrastructure across our city. As a member of our team, you won't just work for the city; you’ll co-create it. You will manage projects from planning, design, and construction, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard. Working closely with contractors, consultants, technical specialists, regulators, and community stakeholders, you will provide leadership and direction throughout the project lifecycle while navigating challenges, identifying opportunities, and delivering value-for-money outcomes aligned with CN’s strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Manage a range of capital works projects from concept to completion, ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality delivery.
- Lead contract administration, procurement, and stakeholder management.
- Balance commercial, environmental, and technical considerations in project delivery.
- Coordinate complex civil, environmental, infrastructure, or construction projects.
- Manage risk, drive collaboration, and influence positive outcomes across diverse stakeholders.
- Deliver projects in areas such as environmental management, landfill operations, wastewater or leachate systems, wetlands, waterways, bushland renewal, or projects requiring liaison with regulatory authorities.
Requirements
- Qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Building Science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience and expertise.
- Experience delivering civil, infrastructure, or environmental projects (highly regarded).
- Strong experience in project delivery, contract administration, procurement, and stakeholder management.
- Ability to manage risk and drive collaboration across a broad range of stakeholders.

Pay
$128,610.10 per annum + 17.5% annual leave loading + 12% superannuation for a 35-hour week.
