About the role
Leader of on-site construction activities for a project from inception to completion in fast-paced/high-pressure environments. Oversee and manage multiple subcontractors, labor, and construction staff to ensure safe and productive work. Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for the construction team, ensuring open communication and resolving conflicts or issues as they arise. Leads and builds a cohesive team. Understands the importance of firm decisions and makes them within reasonable timescales so that their team is successful. Has mastered the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing at multiple levels of the construction hierarchy. It is unwavering and consistently portrays our company values. Has proven that they have the skills necessary to train their replacement so that they can achieve their own career or other aspirational goals. Is curious and desires to be a lifelong learner in the construction industry. Rely on others’ input and feedback to continually improve their own skillset.
Responsibilities
- Successfully and independently manage small projects or portions of larger, complex projects.
- Manage budgets, schedules, and resources while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Enforce compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, conduct regular safety meetings, and ensure a safe work environment.
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company safety and quality standards.
- Set high standards for quality and actively inspect all construction activities to ensure compliance with the project's design and specifications.
- Coordinate site logistics, including material deliveries, equipment staging, and manpower allocation.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, and engineers to ensure the smooth execution of the project.
- Establish and maintain routines for their team to record daily site progress, issues, manpower, safety, quality, or other key production metrics.
- Report regularly to their superior or executive team on project status, risks, and challenges.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in construction management, with at least 2 years of representative work experience matched against the requirements of this job description.
- Proficient in construction scheduling software or can at least communicate schedules through some electronic means.
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of products.
- More than a basic understanding of financial reporting objectives and experience with a version of construction accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of technical systems including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire suppression, and security systems is considered a plus.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and project management platforms (ACC Build, Procore, PlanGrid, etc.).
- OSHA 30-hour, CPR, First Aid. LEED AP or PMP certification is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required based on experience.
