Project Manager

About the role
A candidate with strong experience in Mechanical Construction projects will be strongly considered. The Construction Project Manager must work independently with minimal oversight and meet the following expectations.
Responsibilities
- Manage the pre-construction, preplanning, and construction project scheduling process.
- Review and approve project budgets (labor, material, and subcontractors) to determine allocation of resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations.
- Negotiate and create subcontractor contracts with external vendors to reach agreements beneficial to the project.
- Manage project finances including profitability and cash flow.
- Accountable for the overall profitability of the job and focused on the cost to complete as it relates to the initial job bid proposal.
- Actively resolve design conflicts for all trades by collaborating with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to determine project specifications.
- Lead strategic planning, project submittals, request for information (RFI), and change order processes.
- Implement monthly cost reports and accurate cost projections.
- Research and suggest options on construction means, methods, and timelines.
- Recognize and implement change orders as necessary.
- Approve payment for supplier and subcontractor invoices.
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues.
- Maintain and develop client relationships.
- Identify and pursue upcoming work opportunities.
- Project, identify, and manage CAD, fabrication, and field labor resources required.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Direct responsibility for subcontractors and indirect responsibility for Batchelor & Kimball and subcontractor field personnel and internal support services.
- Direct responsibility for Project Engineers (PEs) and/or Assistant Project Managers (APMs).
- Train estimating staff on technical aspects of project management.
- Understand company resource production capabilities and implement them in the construction process, including daily coordination with the Superintendent.
- Professionally solicit vendors and suppliers during the procurement process.
- Prepare SWOT analyses for projects and future opportunities.
Requirements
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction office environment.
- Ability to organize and curate documents related to work orders and personnel.
- Aptitude to learn new systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Office, Excel, Word, etc.
- Experience with AutoBid, P6 Scheduler, and Bluebeam preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge and project management expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or 10+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years of experience in the construction field leading projects up to $15M in scope.
