About the role
Babcock & Wilcox seeks an experienced Project Manager to support the estimating group in completing project costing, pricing, and proposal submittals to customers. This position will also involve communicating project status to management, leading site project teams, and driving project risk management.
Responsibilities
- Supports and enforces all company safety policies and procedures
- Communicates project status to management
- Establishes and leads site project team upon award of contract
- Works with Project Management Office (PMO) to establish and develop consistent project management processes, procedures, tools, and methods
- Collaborates with various business lines to develop project performance metrics across all organizations
- Drives project risk management and mitigation through strict governance processes and procedures
- Performs regular project assessments and audits
- Evaluates operational costs and works towards reducing costs and expenses without compromising safety or quality
- Provides on-site project management upon award of contract
- Acts as the on-site Company representative regarding craft issues and adherence to associated collective agreements
Requirements
- Speak, read, and write English, and French (asset)
- Familiarity with boilers and steam generating equipment
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work according to customer schedules including weekends and after hours
- Experience with or willingness to learn equipment operations
- Familiarity with ASME, NFPA, and related codes, welding procedures
- Ability to read, write, and understand contract language, drawings, and specifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field, or at least 5 years of experience as an on-site Project Manager
- Managed the successful delivery of multiple, multi-year projects with budgets of $3M+ and timelines of 1-2 years, involving engineering, procurement, and construction
- Proven experience in project management and estimating disciplines
