Project Manager

About the role
The Project Manager is a critical member of the Engineering team, responsible for managing, leading, and directing one or more projects from initiation to successful, on-time completion. This role involves planning, monitoring, and coordinating job flow within and between manufacturing departments to meet customer expectations, budget, and satisfaction objectives. The Project Manager works closely with Sales, Engineering, Procurement, and Operations to identify and mitigate potential risks early. Exceptional communication and leadership skills are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage project execution from quoting and design engineering through manufacturing and delivery, including onsite installation when required.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings to develop timelines, requirements, and labor resources needed to meet customer delivery schedules.
- Develop production plans by entering BOM and routing into the ERP system.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Purchasing to acquire necessary materials, expedite orders, and arrange sub-contracting as needed.
- Identify workload and critical path; monitor potential bottlenecks and implement short-term containment actions to ensure on-schedule completion and workload leveling.
- Coordinate shipping packaging requirements, arrival times, and carriers with the shipping department to meet customer expectations.
- Work closely with CAD designers and engineers, ensuring clear and effective communication across teams.
- Oversee welding, finishing, and assembly activities for the design-build group, addressing potential issues to minimize rework.
- Conduct regular communications with internal and external customers regarding project status, milestones, progress billing, and more.
- Coordinate and plan activities with other personnel to ensure a cohesive team effort.
- Maintain a favorable company image and build customer relationships based on honesty and integrity.
- Lead project close meetings to evaluate estimated vs. actual metrics and capture lessons learned.
- Occasional travel to customer sites for installation or issue resolution.
- Perform related duties as assigned and comply with company and department policies.
Requirements
- BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Machine Design, or related field) with 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, or AAS degree in a Technical/Engineering field with 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, forming, bending, or laser operations is a plus.
- Knowledge of ERP systems required (preferably Made to Manage).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- PMP certification is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with strong planning, monitoring, and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and multitask.
- Positive attitude with a strong desire to learn and grow.

Pay
A reasonable estimate of the current range is $88,150 to $129,000 annually. The wage range considers factors such as skill sets, experience, training, certifications, and business needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range.
