Project Manager
We’re looking for a new member to join our capital works team who is capable of managing infrastructure projects from concept to completion. This role offers broad experience across our community and the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects.
About the role
Alpine Shire Council is on a mission to create incredible community spaces across the stunning Alpine Shire. We seek an enthusiastic, experienced, and community-focused Project Manager to manage the entire lifecycle of projects—from planning and design to delivery. We welcome candidates with project management experience, strong stakeholder engagement skills, or relevant transferable skills paired with refined soft skills and a community-minded approach.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end project management of a portfolio of capital works projects.
- Ensure project milestones are met, and delivery, performance, and financial targets are achieved.
- Establish and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders to manage risks and resolve issues, including sensitive negotiations.
- Oversee and assess designs and specifications submitted by consultants for compliance with relevant Acts, Regulations, and Council policies.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with approved designs and standards.
- Scope asset renewal projects for delivery by Council’s Operations or Asset and Engineering teams.
- Deliver compliant services that provide best value to Council in a professional, efficient, and timely manner.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Building and Construction, or relevant experience.
- End-to-end project management experience.
- Stakeholder management experience.
- Experience with contract administration.
- Problem-solving skills and self-initiative.
- Experience dealing with planning permits.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong report-writing and external correspondence skills.
- Ability to manage diverse workloads to meet deadlines and budget targets.
- Local government project management experience is highly desirable.

Pay
Alpine Shire Council 2023 Enterprise Agreement, Band 6: Starting at $89,979.37 per year + leave loading + superannuation.
Schedule
Temporary (12 months) full-time contract, based in Bright.
