Project Manager
About the Role
The Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center (MECCCC) and its community outreach and patient engagement efforts are committed to reducing cancer burden and eliminating disparities in the Bronx. Working under the MECCC Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) Program, a Psychosocial Oncology Initiative, the Project Manager will manage multiple community outreach and in‑reach efforts to increase community partnership, patient engagement, and Bronx resident participation in cancer screening, psychosocial care, clinical trials, and cancer center events/committees. The role reports to Alyson Moadel‑Robblee, Ph.D., Deputy Director of Community Outreach & Engagement, and works closely with Brittany Miller, Ph.D., Project Director of BOLD Cancer Health Equity Initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Maintain Cancer Center community and patient engagement programming in line with MECCC’s strategic goals.
- Support implementation of community outreach and engagement initiatives in the Cancer Center’s catchment area by collaborating with BOLD team members, Community Advisory Board (CAB) partners, Montefiore’s cancer service line, primary care team, and community‑facing departments.
- Coordinate psychosocial oncology programmatic, research, and evaluation efforts.
- Collect and maintain data on Community Outreach/Patient Engagement/BOLD activities, including evaluation forms, attendance records, research interviews, and observer logs.
- Assist in developing progress reports for the Cancer Center, NCI, and the Einstein IRB that focus on deliverables such as individuals reached, navigated to screening, screened, diagnosed, and navigated through cancer care.
- Facilitate preparation of conference abstracts, oral and poster presentations, and contribute to manuscript development as needed.
- Represent the Cancer Center at internal meetings (e.g., Montefiore’s Dennis Gardner Community Relations Team) and community events.
- Support the Cancer Center Community Advisory Board, developing and maintaining processes to plan and monitor all outreach/engagement activities.
- Work with the Deputy Director to identify and recruit potential CAB members, provide ongoing education and orientation, and maintain communications.
- Collaborate with the CAB coordinator to organize monthly agendas, ensure meeting preparations, and disseminate minutes.
- Prepare and present a monthly Community Outreach/Patient Engagement update to the CAB.
- Maintain a tracking database to evaluate cancer‑relevant community events and programs conducted by Montefiore and its partners.
- Assist in preparing new grant applications, IRB and project protocols, including pilot research support, literature reviews, and communication with collaborators and physicians.
- Facilitate engagement with community members to serve as partners in research and outreach efforts.
- Develop and manage BOLD Community Outreach/Patient Engagement social media; create and maintain a MECCC Community Outreach/Patient Engagement website and social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
- Other responsibilities as needed to support MECCC’s expanding Community Outreach/Patient Engagement program.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Project Manager will assist in the training and supervision of staff and volunteers, including community health workers, study coordinators, consultants, and BOLD interns.
Qualifications
- Master of Public Health or allied field preferred, or Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of related project management and/or community outreach experience.
- Experience supervising junior staff/volunteers.
- Experience working with community partners on public health and health equity issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to apply technology to solve problems.
- Outstanding judgment, initiative, and attention to detail; ability to manage competing priorities while supporting multiple outreach activities.
- Reliability in completing responsibilities timely and within available resources, including staff and program budgets.
- Ability to outline goals, set timelines, and review progress at defined intervals.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with institutional, community, and governmental partners and leaders.

Pay
Minimum Salary Range: USD $80,000.00 per year
Maximum Salary Range: USD $90,000.00 per year
