About the role

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, planning, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This role ensures consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals, including acquiring resources and coordinating efforts across multiple disciplines to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager defines project objectives, oversees quality throughout the life cycle, and supports Engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI), Facilities, and other projects.

Responsibilities

  • Meet the overall objectives of projects and programs.
  • Follow appropriate management systems to ensure required program launch and quality planning activities occur during development.
  • Set up and interact with the project team, ensuring accountability for all disciplines, team success, and individual results.
  • Create and execute project work plans and timelines, revising as needed to meet changing requirements.
  • Monitor the team’s ability to meet project targets, including program costs, customer requirements, and risks.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals, recommending subsequent budget changes as necessary.
  • Work with the project team to develop, submit, and implement cost savings.
  • Evaluate resource needs for projects supporting new products and cost reduction initiatives, obtaining consensus on due dates with functional champions.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scope.
  • Develop proposals for risk mitigation and coordinate appropriate risk management activities.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and stakeholders.
  • Review deliverables prepared by the team, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Escalate issues related to work product or team member behaviors in a timely manner.
  • Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to project success.
  • Effectively apply and enforce project and product standards.
  • Prepare for and present project and quality reviews, delivering engaging and well-organized presentations.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings and present reports verbally, in writing, and in presentations to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Participate in the analysis of project profitability, revenue, and margins as required.
  • Conduct project post-mortems and report on recommendations to identify successful and unsuccessful elements.
  • Accountable for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in the assigned area, including design and operating effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Develop and monitor processes and practices necessary for legal and ethical compliance.

Requirements

  • PMP certification.
  • Thorough understanding of strategic planning, risk management, and change management.
  • Proficiency in agile/hybrid project methodologies.
  • 3-5+ years of successful engineering project management experience in a technical organization; NPI experience preferred.
  • Proven experience managing a team to meet strict timelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Engineering, or Business Administration.
  • Experience in the automotive industry or similar.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, engineering, sourcing, and validation testing is preferred.

Work Environment

This position is based onsite in the southeast area of Portland, OR, with primarily onsite work requirements. No relocation support is available for non-local candidates.

Schedule

This is a Contract to Hire position.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $51.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent factors.
