Actalent is seeking a Project Manager to lead complex projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, commitments, and goals.

About the role

The Project Manager acquires and coordinates resources across multiple disciplines, including internal teams and external contractors or consultants, to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to defined quality standards. This role supports Engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI), Facilities, and other initiatives requiring project management expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from initiation through completion, ensuring objectives, deadlines, and budget targets are met.
  • Follow established management systems to ensure required program launch and quality planning activities during development.
  • Set up and engage the project team, taking responsibility for all disciplines, team success, and individual results.
  • Create and execute detailed project work plans and timelines, revising as needed for changing requirements.
  • Monitor team performance against project targets, including costs, customer requirements, and risks.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals; recommend adjustments to project budgets when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify, develop, submit, and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Evaluate resource needs for projects supporting new products and cost reduction initiatives; obtain consensus on due dates with functional leaders.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and ensure adherence to defined scope.
  • Develop proposals for risk mitigation and coordinate risk management activities throughout the project life cycle.
  • Set and manage clear project expectations with team members, leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Review deliverables, identify improvement opportunities, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Escalate issues related to work products or team behaviors appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Build, develop, and maintain strong business relationships critical to project success.
  • Apply and enforce established project and product standards, practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare for and lead project and quality reviews, delivering engaging and well-organized presentations.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings and provide verbal, written, and presentation-based reports to stakeholders.
  • Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, current, and stored appropriately for access and auditability.
  • Participate in the analysis of project profitability, revenue, and margins as required.
  • Conduct project post-mortem reviews and document recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accountability for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, including internal controls, self-assessment, and reporting.
  • Develop and monitor processes to maintain legal and ethical compliance in the assigned area.

Requirements

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of successful project management experience in a technical organization, including managing teams to tight timelines.
  • Hands-on experience with agile and hybrid project management methodologies.
  • Thorough understanding of strategic planning, including setting priorities and aligning projects with organizational goals.
  • Proven expertise in risk management, including identification, assessment, mitigation planning, and monitoring.
  • Proven experience in change management, including scope changes, stakeholder expectations, and organizational impacts.
  • Strong ability to manage budgets, monitor project costs, and support profitability and margin analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and resources across multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent communication skills, including delivering clear, engaging, and well-organized presentations.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including setting expectations and maintaining effective communication.
  • Ability to enforce project and product standards and ensure compliance with internal practices and controls.
  • Experience with formal quality planning and program launch processes.
  • Accountability for internal controls and compliance, including Sarbanes-Oxley-related responsibilities.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in the automotive industry or with automotive-related products is preferred.
  • Familiarity with IATF standards and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) processes is preferred.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, engineering, sourcing, and validation test is preferred.
  • Having supported Engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI), and Facilities projects is an advantage.
  • Experience building and maintaining key business relationships that support project success.
  • Strong facilitation skills for leading meetings, reviews, and cross-functional discussions.
  • Ability to conduct post-project reviews and implement lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Schedule

This onsite role in Milwaukie, OR follows a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The position regularly requires extended hours and occasional weekend work as project demands and deadlines require.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $51.00 - $70.00 per hour. Individual compensation within this range depends on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent factors.
