About the role
The Construction Project Manager / Estimator manages commercial and industrial construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role combines estimating, project management, and office coordination to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in line with quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to fully understand project scope and requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial and industrial construction projects.
- Solicit, receive, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive and complete proposals.
- Prepare clear and comprehensive bid proposals and scope summaries for submission to clients.
- Assist with budget development and value engineering efforts to optimize project costs and efficiencies.
- Track project costs against estimated budgets and identify variances to maintain financial control.
- Manage multiple construction projects simultaneously from pre-construction through closeout.
- Cook up project schedules, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to keep work progressing on time.
- Prepare, submit, and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation.
- Review construction drawings and blueprints for accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project specifications.
- Monitor project progress regularly and proactively address issues impacting scope, budget, or schedule.
- Participate in project meetings with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to discuss progress, issues, and next steps.
- Prepare and submit proposals, contracts, project correspondence, and reports in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain organized project files and document control systems for easy retrieval and compliance.
- Track material deliveries, purchase orders, and subcontract agreements to support smooth project execution.
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide project status updates and address questions or concerns.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3+ years of construction project management and/or estimating experience.
- Experience working on commercial, industrial, municipal, or institutional construction projects (preferred).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with construction management software such as BeamAI and Knowify, or the ability to learn these tools with provided training.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with construction estimation, project management, and project coordination.
- Experience with bidding processes, including preparing proposals and evaluating subcontractor bids.
- Experience with preparing and managing change orders, RFIs, and project engineering documentation.
- Strong administrative support skills, including document preparation and file management.
- Demonstrated ability to read and work from blueprints and construction documents.
- Comfort working with cost tracking, budgeting, and value engineering processes.
- Ability to contribute to both field-related and office-based aspects of project delivery.
Qualifications
- At least 3+ years of construction experience in a related capacity.
Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Attention to detail in reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
