About The Role Our San Francisco office is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead architectural projects from early concept through final closeout. This role focuses on design excellence, technical quality, effective project delivery, and strong client relationships. The ideal candidate is an experienced project leader who enjoys working in a collaborative studio environment and has experience managing multi-disciplinary architectural projects, particularly in education, senior living, wellness, or related project types. Minimum Requirements 7+ years of experience managing architectural projects, preferably in Education, Senior Living, Wellness, or related project types. An active California Architect license is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Must be able to work from the San Francisco office at least three days per week. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Delivery Lead projects through all phases, from feasibility and concept design through construction documents, construction administration, and final punch list. Ensure projects meet high standards for design quality, technical execution, and client service. Develop project strategies and manage scope, schedules, budgets, fees, and contract requirements. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams. Monitor project progress and proactively address scheduling conflicts, technical challenges, and design issues across multiple projects. Manage project risks and resolve client, technical, and delivery concerns in a timely and professional manner. Team & Client Management Lead and mentor project teams, encouraging collaboration, accountability, and high-quality work. Coordinate staffing and resource needs to ensure projects have the right team at each phase. Maintain clear and consistent communication through team meetings, agendas, meeting minutes, and written documentation. Build strong working relationships with clients and help ensure their goals are understood and achieved. Provide guidance and feedback to less-experienced staff and support their professional development. Project Management & Administration Manage project work plans, staffing, budgets, schedules, consultant coordination, fee tracking, and change documentation. Develop and validate project scope, fees, schedules, and services during pursuits, proposals, and contract negotiations. Coordinate consultant proposals and manage consultant relationships throughout the project. Review project documents for accuracy, completeness, clarity, and compliance with established quality standards. Identify potential issues early and develop practical solutions to keep projects on track. Technical & Construction Administration Evaluate the technical impact of design decisions and ensure solutions are feasible and code-compliant. Oversee construction administration, including:Site observationsRFIsSubmittalsChange ordersContractor coordinationFinal punch listWork closely with contractors and consultants to maintain design intent and project quality throughout construction. Business Development Participate in marketing, client-development, and business-development activities. Strengthen existing client relationships and contribute to future project opportunities.
