Job Summary
The Department of Anesthesiology manages a diverse team of clinicians, researchers, and support staff. It oversees clinical services at various locations and supports interdisciplinary research efforts.
About the Role
This position is dedicated to the successful execution of a complex, multi-year sponsored research program involving a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional team. The ideal candidate will coordinate a team of investigators, researchers, and graduate students while guiding the strategic execution of the program roadmap.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects with campus, medical center, or Office of the President impact
- Lead projects with little or no precedent requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors
- Guide project management methods and processes
- Coordinate a team of dozens consisting of investigators, researchers, and graduate students
- Execute the program roadmap to ensure on-time deliverables and successful achievement of research milestones
Requirements
- Eleven (11) years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related area plus seven (7) years of related experience
- Knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts
- Ability to assess campus, medical center, or Office of the President needs for information technology products and design services
- Demonstrated capacity to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks
- Demonstrated initiative to proactively advance workstreams with minimal input from principal investigators
- Demonstrated effective writing skills
- Broad knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of their impact to the organization
- Proven leadership ability
- Effective problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to put forth persuasive arguments
- Demonstrated competency in selecting and implementing project management methods and techniques
- Effective skill at tracking effort and project progress

- Advanced knowledge of all aspects of computing and communications including hardware infrastructure, networking, software, operations and disaster recovery

- Demonstrated ability to integrate critical information across disciplines
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with executive-level management on a regular basis
- Experience analyzing highly complex projects with broad impact to the institution
- Demonstrated ability to manage project progress within time and budget constraints
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner to achieve significant results
Qualifications
- Professional certification preferred
- Experience successfully project managing the execution of aggressive milestone-based 'moon-shot' ARPA initiatives
