Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple concurrent transmission electric system capital improvement projects from initiation through completion.
  • Assembles and coordinates cross-functional project teams for high-priority projects to meet objectives on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Develops and maintains a detailed baseline project schedule, identifying critical paths and important milestones for high-priority projects.
  • Updates construction dates monthly and monitors progress to identify and mitigate at-risk activities before they cause delays.
  • Facilitates project meetings (status, coordination, scheduling, lessons learned) with teams and stakeholders.
  • Acts as the escalation point for project issues, risks, and change requests, resolving them or escalating to leadership as needed.
  • Monitors and controls project costs through monthly cash flow projections, cost comparisons, and variance analysis.
  • Reviews construction contractor quotes, issues purchase orders, and approves change orders and invoices.
  • Communicates project status, issues, and risks to leadership and stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with personnel across the company to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Associate Level:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant field, or
    • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in project and/or construction management in electric utility construction or equivalent experience.
  • Intermediate Level:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant field with a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in project/construction management in the electric utility industry, or
    • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in project and/or construction management in electric utility construction.
  • Senior Level:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant field with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project/construction management in the electric utility industry, or
    • Minimum of twelve (12) years of progressively responsible experience in project and/or construction management in electric utility construction.
  • Transmission electric system capital project experience strongly preferred for all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with creating project schedules; experience with Primavera, Microsoft Project, or equivalent software preferred.
  • Experience identifying alternative solutions and performing risk assessments.
  • Experience coordinating and negotiating with outside vendors or third parties.
  • Familiarity with electric utility construction processes and substation/line equipment preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and travel on short notice.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment.
