About the role
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) requires a Project Manager III under the FAST contract to provide senior-level project management support for complex, enterprise-level initiatives. The resource will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating project activities, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and stakeholder management across cross-functional teams. This role ensures successful delivery of projects by maintaining alignment with DPS objectives, governance standards, and established project management methodologies.
Required Experience
8+ years of experience in the following areas:
- Managing large-scale, complex IT or business transformation projects in a structured environment.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (PMI/PMBOK, Agile, Hybrid).
- Developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders across technical and business units.
- Risk management, issue tracking, and change control processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting.
- Using project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or similar platforms.
- Ability to ensure compliance with organizational governance, policies, and procurement requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year of experience in any of the following:
- Working in public sector or state government environments, preferably within public safety or law enforcement agencies.
- Managing projects under state procurement frameworks (such as FAST, DIR, or similar contract vehicles).
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or an equivalent credential.
- Managing IT system implementations, data systems, or enterprise applications.
