Students will have opportunities to develop skills in: Project management and executionCapital project planning and justificationEngineering design review and interpretationConstruction management and field coordinationCost estimating and budget trackingVendor and contractor managementCross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Finance teamsProfessional presentation, reporting, and communication skillsIndustrial safety and environmental complianceData management and systems improvement What You’ll Do The Project Management Co-Op supports Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Finance teams by assisting with capital spending, plant improvement projects, major outages, and maintenance initiatives across MLC facilities. This role provides hands-on exposure to project lifecycle management, from feasibility studies and planning through execution and closeout. Assist with capital project planning, budgeting, and feasibility studiesSupport project justification efforts by evaluating costs, benefits, and operational impactsCollaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, timelines, and success metricsReview engineering drawings, technical documentation, and project specificationsAssist in developing scopes of work, cost estimates, bid packages, and contractor evaluationsTrack project schedules, budgets, and progress to ensure successful project executionParticipate in construction oversight activities and help ensure compliance with MLC engineering and safety standardsSupport communication and coordination among Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Purchasing, Environmental Affairs, and other departmentsAssist with project reporting, documentation, and closeout activitiesSupport kiln shutdown planning and execution activities as assignedMaintain project records and documentation for future operational and maintenance useHelp improve existing databases and information management systems while identifying opportunities to develop new tools and processes Required Qualifications Sophomore standing or higher pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering disciplineAbility to work in an industrial manufacturing, mining, and chemical processing environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookFamiliarity with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorksStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsEffective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a team environmentCommitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all safety and environmental requirements Preferred Qualifications Internship, co-op, or project experience involving material handling systems, construction, manufacturing, or industrial operationsExperience reviewing technical drawings, engineering calculations, and project plansKnowledge of project management principles and capital project executionInterest in manufacturing, mining, construction, or heavy industrial environmentsExperience with cost estimating, scheduling, or engineering project coordinationAbility to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment The Fine Print Benefits and perquisites may vary based on the nature and location of each job.
