Project Leader-Cost Finance

About the Role

The Project Leader, Finance provides effective leadership of key finance projects and prepares economic and financial forecasts to support financial decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Project Control (40%) – Develops and executes plans to control project scope, schedule, and cost. Monitors execution to ensure adherence to the plan. Creates and coordinates documentation for baseline changes and ensures approved changes are implemented.
• Project Communications (30%) – Develops communication plans for project teams and stakeholders. Prepares written status reports, scorecards, and project review documents for senior leadership.
• Project Risk Assessment (10%) – Leads risk definition and mitigation planning. Monitors project activities for risks and takes timely escalation or mitigation actions. Advises team members and stakeholders on required actions.
• Project Lessons Learned (10%) – Captures and communicates key lessons at project completion or phase transitions. Applies lessons learned to future projects.
• Project Environment (10%) – Collaborates with project leadership to ensure a productive working environment. Ensures teams are properly staffed, roles are clear, and an inclusive culture is maintained.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field (e.g., finance, business).
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
• MBA or prior experience in corporate finance and/or retail.

Skills

• Ability to perform detailed analyses and create executive summaries.
• Strong presentation and defense of work to senior leadership.
• Ability to work independently and influence decisions of non-direct reports.

Working Conditions

• Primarily office-based with frequent sitting and occasional movement or light lifting.
• Comfortable indoor environment with infrequent unpleasant conditions.
• Overnight travel required less than 10% of the time.

Reports to Sr. Finance Manager. No direct reports.
