About the Role
The PLTW - App Creator Teacher provides strong, effective instruction in college and career readiness skills using an integrated curricular approach focused on STEM and innovative soft skills development.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lessons in coding, problem/project-based learning, and the design process.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the Design Thinking process and its application in elementary education.
- Use the Inquiry Process to create a student-centered learning environment.
- Provide one-on-one guidance for students pursuing individualized design and technology projects, including digital creation/fabrication tools.
- Serve as a school instructional technology leader and member of the school leadership team.
- Encourage thoughtful action and reflection throughout student project steps.
- Collaborate with the Director of Career and Technical Education and Building Principal to maintain iSpark classroom tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure program outcomes are achieved.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with pedagogical and technological trends.
- Research and model effective 21st Century teaching and learning strategies.
- Adapt to a rapidly advancing industry and experiment with new technologies.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, classroom management, and problem-solving skills.
- Complete a 16-hour PLTW certification training upon accepting the position.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a job-related area.
- Missouri Teacher’s Certificate with appropriate endorsement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of G-Suite for Education.
- Project-based learning teaching experience.
- Master’s Degree.
- Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience.
Physical Demands
The role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands and fingers, reach, bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. Visual abilities include mono and color vision, close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Schedule
In person; 8 hours per day; 5 days per week; 187 workdays per year.
