Project Interior Designer IV

This role is remote within the U.S., with a preference for candidates located in or near one of the US CannonDesign offices.

About The Role

Under the direction of designated project leadership, the successful candidate will lead and engage with clients and teams to deliver services, creatively solve problems, and perform with a high degree of latitude.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the client and project team in establishing project goals and vision.
• Lead the interior design approach with a focus on furniture planning and furniture design across multiple projects.
• Guide the design development of project goals through all phases: Pursuit, Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Procurement, and Construction Administration.
• Evaluate client needs, analyze, and document design objectives and spatial requirements.
• Lead the conceptual and design development of interior spaces, emphasizing furniture design.
• Coordinate project design work and ensure code compliance.
• Collaborate with architecture, engineering, and consultant disciplines.
• Review drawings and support functions to meet project time, budget, and quality constraints.
• Oversee and produce design visualization.
• Assist or lead in project planning, including work plans and budgeting.
• Develop schedules for interior design components, focusing on furniture.
• Assist in or lead client meetings and maintain positive client and team relations.
• Implement, follow, and enforce interior design standards, particularly for furniture, across all project phases.
• Serve as a furniture subject matter expert for project teams.
• Lead the development and production of documentation for furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) throughout all phases.
• Develop and coordinate specifications.
• Mentor less experienced interior design staff.
• Actively participate in and promote design leadership.
• Collaborate with design leadership and consult with product vendors.
• Lead or participate in marketing activities, including proposal development and interviews.
• Participate in construction administration activities, such as site visits, submittal reviews, shop drawing reviews, and punch lists.
• Perform site visits, which frequently require physical walk-throughs.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in interior design, Interior Architecture, or a relevant field.
• A strong furniture/interior design portfolio demonstrating planning, specification, and implementation experience is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of related experience.
• Relevant furniture planning, specification, and procurement experience strongly preferred.
• Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
• Ability to provide interior design leadership focusing on furniture across large-scale projects or multiple projects.
• Strong design, storytelling, and technical skills, with knowledge of building and life safety codes.
• Exceptional presentation, organizational, team-building, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain client relationships.
• Experience leading a high-performing team is preferred.
• Critical thinker with highly analytical skills.
• Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude and some ambiguity.
• Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Travel as required.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $81,955 to $102,398 annually. This range reflects the anticipated base compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level. Employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
