About the role
We're looking for an experienced Lead Commercial HVAC Installer to join our growing installation team in Charlotte, NC. This position is ideal for an installer who enjoys leading projects, mentoring team members, and delivering high-quality commercial HVAC installations. You'll work on a variety of commercial and industrial projects while building your career with a company that values safety, teamwork, and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Install commercial HVAC/R equipment and associated mechanical systems
- Install ductwork, piping, controls, and related HVAC components
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and installation specifications
- Aid with equipment startup and verify proper system operation
- Ensure installations meet company quality standards and applicable codes
- Follow all OSHA safety requirements and company safety procedures
- Mentor and assist junior installers while promoting a positive team environment
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe throughout each project
- Participate in ongoing training and technical development opportunities
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Associate degree or technical training in HVAC preferred (not required); minimum 2 years of commercial HVAC installation experience; commercial or industrial HVAC experience strongly preferred
- Certifications: EPA Universal Certification (Required); HVAC Technician Certification (preferred)
Skills
- Working knowledge of: Commercial HVAC equipment, Refrigeration principles, Duct design and installation, Control systems, Pipe fitting, Structural layouts
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Basic math skills including measurements, ratios, and calculations
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 100 pounds
- Occasionally lift more than 100 pounds with assistance
- Regular standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, and working at heights
- Ability to distinguish colors and safely identify wiring and components
Work Environment
- Commercial construction sites
- Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Exposure to: Mechanical equipment, High voltage, Dust, fumes, and vibrations, Extreme temperatures, Frequent use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Schedule
Full-Time
Overtime available
Occasional weekend work
Occasional overnight travel
