About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious hydrogeologist looking to further develop their technical expertise, project management skills, and career within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of hydrogeological and environmental projects from inception through to completion.
  • Liaise with clients, landowners, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, environmental assessments, groundwater studies, and supporting documentation.
  • Organise and coordinate field investigations, environmental surveys, and monitoring programmes.
  • Undertake fieldwork and site visits as required.
  • Procure and coordinate site investigations and specialist surveys.
  • Aid in the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), Planning & Environmental Consideration Reports (PECRs), Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screenings, and Natura Impact Statements (NISs).
  • Review reports, maps, and GIS outputs prepared by junior team members.
  • Liaise with peer reviewers, legal teams, clients, and regulatory bodies to support project delivery.
  • Aid in the preparation of tenders, proposals, and business development opportunities.
  • Participate in public consultation events, stakeholder meetings, and community engagement activities.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and senior technical specialists to achieve project objectives and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Essential Qualifications & Experience:
  • Level 8 Honours Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Geologist (PGeo), Associate Member of CIEEM (ACIEEM), or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Approximately 4–10 years’ relevant experience in hydrogeology, environmental consultancy, or a related field.
  • Experience delivering environmental and hydrogeological assessments and investigations.
  • Full clean driving licence and willingness to undertake fieldwork.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of hydrogeological investigations, groundwater assessments, and environmental reporting.
  • Experience with site investigations, borehole specification, groundwater monitoring, and trial pit logging.
  • Strong fieldwork and surveying skills.
  • Proficiency in GIS software including ArcGIS, ArcCollector, MapInfo, or equivalent platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Teams, and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience using mobile surveying technology and field data collection tools.
  • Working knowledge of hydrogeological software such as AquiferTest, MODFLOW, LandSim, P20, or similar platforms.
