Project Geotechnical Engineer
About the role
Kleinfelder is seeking a Project Geotechnical Engineer for our Sacramento, California office and also our Santa Rosa, California office. This role is ideal for someone with a Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering and 8 - 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering consulting, particularly on infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will manage complex projects, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and provide technical support.
Responsibilities
- Coincide with multidisciplinary teams to prepare proposals and execute projects
- Safely coordinate and execute field exploration programs, construction observation, and associated documentation
- Complete engineering analysis including: soil and rock classification; shallow and deep foundation capacity, immediate and consolidation settlement; slope stability analysis, seismic hazard evaluation (including liquefaction and lateral spreading), and earth retention systems
- Prepare Geotechnical Engineering reports
- Prepare construction specifications and drawings
- Be actively involved during the construction phase of projects
- Positively interact with client representatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (preferably a Master’s degree)
- Professional Engineer license in California
- 6 - 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience - 8-10 is preferred
- Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Working knowledge of standard business software including MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Experience with geotechnical software packages including L-Pile, Uni-pile, SHAFT, gINT, GRL WEAP, GEO STUDIO, MSEW, CPeT-IT, and CLiq preferred
Qualifications
- Clean driving record and the ability to pass a drug test required

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $91,000 - 120,000.
