Project Geologist

About the role

S&ME is seeking a Project Geologist to join our Geotechnical team in Columbia or Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This position involves a variety of responsibilities including field and office work, inspection, communication, staff training, and project management.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and office work associated with hydrogeological and/or geotechnical investigations, environmental evaluations and sampling, and other project support.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, including data reduction and entry into gINT or OpenGround, assignment of laboratory tests, and quality assurance review of laboratory soil test data.
• Conduct inspections and communicate with vendors and clients, including construction, geotechnical soil and rock identification, and environmental inspections.
• Manage routine projects with minimal oversight, including client communication, proposal preparation, scheduling, budgeting, and report authorship.
• Lead field investigations, supervise junior staff, and provide technical expertise in specialized areas.
• Engage in business development, mentor junior staff, and deliver high-quality technical computations, reports, and project solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or a closely related technical field.
• Minimum of 3 years of Geology experience.
• Professional Geologist (PG) license or ability to obtain.
• Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language.

Qualifications
