About the role
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) seeks a Project Finance Specialist to join their dynamic team. This position is responsible for managing federal and state funding allocations for various transportation projects.
Responsibilities
- Defines and identifies federal funding allocations for eligible state and local projects
- Applies state and local funding based on project classification
- Ensures federal eligibility and applies federal funds based on prescribed percentages
- Create and run large scale reports from PeopleSoft/Encompass and FMIS
- Performs fiscal analysis on funding requests for compliance with established guidelines
- Verifies and adjusts weekly federal reimbursement requests to the Federal Highway Administration
- Consults with Project Finance staff on operational matters and business practices
- Ensures adherence to internal financial controls and reporting
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply complex financial systems including PeopleSoft, Scheduling Project Management System, Federal Highway System, and CAPWise
- Understanding of metropolitan planning organizations and local federal aid policies
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks
- Knowledge of agency organization and function, including state, local, and federal funding mechanisms
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of management and external agencies
Qualifications
- At least 7+ years of accounting, auditing, financial analysis, or related experience
- A High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE)

Pay
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience.
Schedule
This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work.
