About the Role

Metcon is a commercial general contractor specializing in construction management, negotiated, design-build, and select hard-bid projects. The Project Executive's primary duty is to grow the company by achieving sales and profitability objectives for new projects and clientele. This role involves promoting Metcon Construction to owners, developers, planners, architects, engineers, and other sales leads to increase brand awareness, generate leads, and build long-term relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Metcon Construction to potential clients by increasing brand awareness, prospecting, and engaging new clients.
  • Coordinate public relations efforts, attend and participate in trade shows, and engage in professional/industry organizations.
  • Demonstrate and apply a complete understanding of all aspects of the construction business to build confidence in prospective clientele.
  • Understand financing options available to developers and communicate program requirements to clients, architects, and Metcon staff.
  • Regularly update and distribute marketing collateral.
  • Identify profitable marketplace opportunities and monitor project announcements daily to generate leads.
  • Build and manage long-term relationships with key clients, architects, and engineers to generate leads for both private and public projects.
  • Follow up on project leads identified by other Metcon staff members.
  • Track projects from concept through contract award, maintaining consistent contact with project team members.
  • Attend pre-bid conferences, serve as the primary point of contact for outside contacts, and communicate relevant information to the Estimating staff.
  • Develop, prepare, coordinate, and execute presentations and proposals with Estimating staff participation.
  • Work with Estimating staff throughout the Design Assist process to ensure client goals are achieved and the predevelopment schedule is maintained.
  • Ensure client expectations are met and monitor owner satisfaction in collaboration with Senior Project Management staff.
  • Engage existing clients on future opportunities.

Project Start-up and Closeout

  • Abstract contract details and convey key points to the project team.
  • Identify the project team and develop a team-building strategy.
  • Establish a dashboard and set expectations for the project.
  • Create a Risk Mitigation Plan and identify long-lead items.
  • Coordinate buyout with Estimator/Project Manager and ensure scopes are signed off by relevant team members.
  • Oversee project layout.
  • Conduct project closeout, including warranty postmortem and lessons learned.

Financial Management

  • Forecasting and training on cost coding.
  • Manage General Conditions, including collaboration with the Superintendent.

Safety

  • Update safety training for the Superintendent and all field staff.

Leadership

  • Effectively motivate and lead the team, setting clear, measurable goals.
  • Practice active listening and mentor team members.
  • Resolve conflicts and provide cross-training for team members.
  • Encourage continuing education to expand the knowledge base.

Requirements

  • Construction Management degree preferred or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
  • Ten years of construction experience.
  • Ability to lead a single project of the greatest scope and complexity or programs of large complex work.

Skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong sales and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, P6, Procore, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Dispute resolution and financial/job cost accounting knowledge.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Perform at all project management levels.
  • Train and develop employees.

Working Conditions

  • Travel to and from the office to the project site is required; must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Work in both office and field environments.
  • Required to meet project deadlines.
