Project Estimator

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual, budgetary, and hard-bid estimates for mechanical construction projects
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, labor analyses, and material pricing
• Review drawings, specifications, and models to identify scope, constructability, and risk
• Utilize BIM and digital models to support estimating accuracy and coordination
• Collaborate with BIM, project management, and field leadership during preconstruction
• Solicit, analyze, and level vendor and subcontractor pricing
• Support value engineering, cost optimization, and alternate scope reviews
• Participate in bid strategy meetings, scope reviews, and proposal development
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and model-based takeoff records
• Perform quantity takeoffs directly from BIM (LOD 300–400 as applicable)
• Cook up with BIM/VDC teams to validate scope, quantities, and constructability
• Identify clashes, scope gaps, and coordination risks during preconstruction
• Ability to fill out client bid forms

Technology & Software Experience (Preferred)

• BIM coordination and model-based estimating experience
• Proficiency with:
• AutoCAD
• Bluebeam
• Procore
• Navisworks Manage/Simulate
• Ability to review, navigate, and extract quantities from 3D models

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Estimator
• Strong understanding of piping, HVAC, and industrial mechanical systems
• Data center and/or semiconductor facility estimating experience strongly preferred
• Experience estimating large-scale, complex, and fast-paced projects
• Advanced Excel and estimating software proficiency
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently, meet bid deadlines, and support multiple pursuits
