Key Responsibilities
- Aid the Project Manager with day-to-day project operations.
- Set up initial project documentation, contracts, and project information systems.
- Coverage of activities across multiple trades to support efficient construction sequencing.
- Collaborate with project teams and design partners to resolve design coordination issues.
- Receive, review, distribute, and track submittals to ensure timely approvals.
- Manage and track the Request for Information (RFI) process to ensure timely responses and documentation.
- Manage the project permitting process and ensure compliance with local jurisdiction requirements.
- Assist in preparing bid packages and procurement activities.
- Identify long-lead materials and establish procurement priorities to avoid schedule delays.
- Update construction schedules based on input from the project team, trade partners, and material delivery timelines.
- Support change management processes, including tracking, reviewing, and preparing change orders and pricing requests.
- Track and inspect material deliveries to ensure quality and alignment with project specifications.
- Support the preparation of bid packages and assist with procurement activities.
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly project status reports for clients and leadership.
- Attend and/or facilitate project meetings as directed; ensure accurate documentation and distribution of meeting minutes.
- Support project closeout activities, including documentation, punch lists, and turnover packages.
- Promote and enforce Smith Group of Americas Construction’s Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) policies.
- Support the integration and use of project technologies, including quality tracking, closeout systems, photo documentation, and procurement tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2–5 years of experience in construction project engineering or related role (warehouse, industrial, or large-scale commercial projects preferred).
- Basic understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and project delivery methods.
- Familiarity with submittals, RFIs, change management, and project documentation processes.
- Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and construction management software (e.g., Procore, Autodesk, or similar platforms).
- Ability to analyze data, track project progress, and support problem-solving efforts.
- Understanding of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) practices in construction environments.
- OSHA 10-hour certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Ability to travel to project sites as required; reliable transportation required.
