Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Interact with client, engineers, and subcontractors to understand and incorporate project objectives, schedules, permits, and costs.
- Work with superintendents to clearly define, understand, and assemble the steel, mechanical and piping work packages as well as communicate them to the project team.
- Monitor the engineering and vendor information for the discipline to define in detail the work package scopes, perform material take offs, procure materials and troubleshoot all discipline specific questions or concerns from the field operations teams.
- Generate field material requests.
- Apply commonly used piping and mechanical engineering concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the construction industry.
- Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project/ tasks, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources.
- Review and analyze project documents including piping and instrumentation diagrams, isometric drawings, mechanical schematics, material and equipment specifications.
- Manage requests for information (RFI) including specification review, visual examination, submittal to client and creation of change orders as necessary.
- Conduct walkdowns to report progress of work packages. Enters progress into field progress management system.
- Afford assistance in the turnover process with construction team and client to provide the proper documentation related to project including as-built and redline drawings and other required information.
- Participate in project team meetings and contribute engineering input to project related decisions.
- Prepare cost estimates for change order submission and negotiation with client.
- Generate status reports for managements, client, and others.
- Verify progress earned against invoice requests.
- Understand Traylor contract as well as any subcontractor contracts.
- Keep accurate field engineering records.
- Afford assistance with the implementation of the Project Specific HSE Plan commensurate with the engineering discipline.
- Reviewing drawings, submittals, specifications, RFI’s and document control.
- Change management – set-up, issuing documentation, and pricing.
- Coordinate inspection duties and assist in construction execution.
- Coordinate field details, site inspections, and communicate with subcontractor.
- Identify and resolve field technical issues.
- Maintain as-built (redline) drawings.
- Assemble hydro packages with support from the superintendents.
- Perform material and man hour takeoffs for work packages.
- Perform quantity reconciliations.
- Track completion of hydro tests.

Education/Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent work experience is required.
Physical Demands
- Required to relocate to the project area
- Additional travel may be required to attend training and meetings.
- Ability to sit or stand for entire shift
- Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
- Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly.
