About the role

This role supports utility scale solar and battery energy storage projects ranging up to 600MW. The Project Engineer ensures seamless coordination between field operations, engineering, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with environmental/safety regulations and contractual obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with all engineering disciplines in updating engineering drawings, project design, and assisting with engineering problems on assigned utility scale solar PV and/or battery storage projects.
  • Build rapport with customers and find strategic opportunities to drive long-term mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Work with various permitting agencies to obtain construction permits that align with project schedules and contractual obligations.
  • Cook with other DEPCOM departments including procurement, scheduling, construction, and commissioning to ensure design criteria, permitting requirements, and other items forming the basis of the design are understood and captured in appropriate documentation.
  • Maintain engineering and design documentation through the project-specific document control platform, typically Procore. This includes maintaining revision history and formal transmittals to customers and third parties.
  • Proactively identify critical constraints and partner with the right team members to devise contingency plans.
  • Ensure engineering work is in compliance with regulatory, applicable codes, standards, and safety practices.
  • Aid procurement in determining quantities, lead times, and applicability of selected equipment and materials.
  • Actively participate in customer meetings and weekly presentations.
  • Manage and supervise Field Engineers while applying Principle Based Management philosophy to support the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline or Construction Management.
  • Experience in coordinating projects and/or initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) projects in Utility Solar, Wind, BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), Conventional Power, or Industrial projects.
  • Project Engineering experience in capital projects.
  • Supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Basic understanding of prime contract and subcontract language.

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and software.
  • Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering principles.

Pay

$110,000 - $140,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.

Schedule

Initially, this role will support project sites in Kansas. This role offers flexibility to be based remotely (preferred mid-west area) in the U.S. with 25%-40% travel. Travel is typically 2 times monthly, generally on weekdays, contingent to business needs.
