Project Engineer (Remote)
About the Role
The Principal Project Engineer will join the Site Program Office (SPO) at the Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU) Charleston and play a key role in planning and managing the transition to the S9G Next Generation Training Program (NGTP). The position focuses on project planning, engineering analysis, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and coordination of the Charleston Simulation Expansion Program (CSEP).
Working closely with engineering teams, project managers, Department of Defense organizations, and site leadership, the Project Engineer will help develop long-term implementation strategies, oversee project execution, manage schedules and resources, and support facility engineering efforts.
This is an onsite position requiring regular presence at the Charleston facility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Construction, or a related technical field with 9+ years of relevant experience;
- or Master's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience;
- or Doctorate degree with 3+ years of relevant experience;
- Currently serving as a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer within the company.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal security clearance.
- Ability to qualify as a member of the NPTU Charleston Emergency Response Organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Former S6G Training experience.
- Experience as a Crew Training Engineer or Supervisor of In-Hull Training.
- Navy Shift Engineer experience.
- S9G Fleet experience.
- Project management experience within technical or engineering environments.

- Develop and maintain project schedules and implementation plans.
- Monitor project cost, schedule baselines, and performance trends.
- Support planning and execution of the Next Generation Training Program.
- Prepare engineering reports, forecasts, and project analyses.
- Cookordination project schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Conduct project scheduling and cost review meetings.
- Support long-term site strategy and annual planning objectives.
- Provide technical engineering support across multiple site organizations.
- Support facility engineering and management initiatives.
- Participate in technical evaluations and project implementation activities.
- Lead or support process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Department of Defense agencies and internal engineering teams.
- Perform additional technical and administrative duties as assigned.
