Job Summary
The Engineering Project Manager uses engineering and project skills to define, develop, and execute the technical scope, project scope, timeline, resource plans, budgets and estimates, and corresponding deliverables necessary and sufficient to deliver project goals. The Engineering Project Manager works with the Project Team and Stakeholders to ensure technical and project tasks are identified, assigned, prioritized, and completed, with accuracy and in accordance with the project charter.
Basic Function
- Planner, developer, executor, implementer, and turn-over to Operations, capital projects within the plant focusing on manufacturing reliability, process improvement & optimization.
- Project documentation, identifying equipment requirements and specifications, supporting plant modernization initiatives, supporting contract negotiations, as well as managing field execution, are primary functions day to day.
Engineering Project Manager
- Demonstrate proficiencies in all areas of process and project evaluation, including process design, fixed/mechanical equipment, instrumentation and control, project deliverables definition, development, and management, project estimating, budget development, the capital funding process, and project change management.
- Develop and support mechanical scopes of work, estimates, and project execution plans.
- Build and manage project schedules.
- Cookordinate with Operations and Maintenance to ensure operability and maintainability of designs.
- Oversee/engineer assigned plant changes and perform engineering tasks on in-house projects.
- Advise on mechanical equipment specifications and plant modifications and repairs.
- Apply appropriate engineering standards in compliance with Federal/State codes and industry practice.
- Verify work meets design intent, codes, standards, and plant requirements.
- Review drawings, specifications, calculations, and vendor documents for mechanical systems.
- Lead design reviews, hazard reviews, and constructability reviews.
- Issue purchase requisitions and assist in the selection of equipment and vendors.
- Review and select major equipment vendors.
- Lead and manage equipment selection, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Maintain stakeholder engagement through technical progress reporting regarding capital project planning, development and execution, as well as project financial health.
- Cookordinate contractors and internal stakeholders during field execution.
- Manage/oversee field coordination, RFIs, punch lists, and construction issue resolution.
- Assist with turnover documentation and asset handoff.
Inspection
- Working with the Mechanical Integrity Engineer, and while wearing appropriate PPE including hard hat, steel-toed boots and fire-resistant uniform, monitor and inspect mechanical equipment during outage opportunities and turnarounds, and initiate action for repair as necessary.
- Oversee owner/user program for the site.
- Inspect fabricated equipment at the vendor’s location to ensure compliance with project specifications and schedule.
Travel
Up to 25% travel may be required to support project requirements during manufacturing and supply of project equipment, as well as participating in off-site events like cross-site or corporate training.
