About the role
The Project Engineer - Natural Gas Facilities role is available in multiple locations including Colorado Springs, CO; Greenwood Village (Denver Tech Center), CO; Indianapolis, IN; Lisle, IL; or St. Louis, MO. This position offers an opportunity to join a growing engineering team and contribute to the company's growth within the Energy and Utilities group.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise on natural gas facility projects (e.g., compressor stations, metering/regulation stations).
- Develop projects by analyzing existing facilities for proposed improvements to performance, safety, and reliability as requested by clients.
- Prepare detailed technical documents, engineering calculations, design specifications, P&IDs, and reports in support of projects for clients.
- Coverage of field locations to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications, including periodic site visits, oversight of Farnsworth team members on site, and addressing contractor inquiries.
- Manage engineering projects from conception to completion, including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, design coordination, construction support, and project closeout.
- Support the proposal process, including fee estimating, subcontractor RFPs, schedule preparation in Microsoft Project, and writing of proposal letters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in facility design in the natural gas industry.
- Compression experience – sizing/modeling, specifying, designing, installing, commissioning.
- Knowledge of CFR 49 part 192.
- Knowledge of gas transmission systems as well as mechanical components and ancillary systems installed at compressor stations.
- Familiarity with coordinating with clients, attending client meetings, and overseeing quality standards.
- Experience working with natural gas utilities and/or midstream companies.
- Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, CADWorx, and related third-party platforms.
