Project Engineer - Marine Construction

About the role

Orion is a leading specialty construction company providing innovative solutions for marine, heavy civil, and infrastructure projects throughout the United States. This is an on-site position supporting Orion's self-perform marine and heavy civil construction operations in Federal Way, Washington. Travel to active construction projects is required, including projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii based on project assignments and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Developing bid packages for subcontractors
• Calculating project costs
• Selecting suppliers
• Procuring materials and services
• Interpreting project plans
• Scheduling project work activities
• Providing project oversight
• Interfacing with project personnel, including Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen
• Ensuring successful project completion and close-out
• Supporting the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion, including Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork, with Integrity as the foundation

Requirements

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Science, Construction Management, or related discipline
• 2 years of work experience
• Heavy Civil Construction and/or Marine Construction experience is preferred
• Experience working for a self-perform contractor and supporting field construction operations is highly desirable
• Experience involving marine construction, heavy civil infrastructure, ports, marine terminals, bridges, piers, wharves, pile driving, deep foundations, marine concrete, dredging, waterfront structures, or similar self-perform construction projects is preferred
• Working knowledge of Project Management & Administration, Marine Construction, Heavy Civil Construction, Materials Procurement, Estimating, Scheduling, Project Tracking Software, Cost Control, Engineering & Project Standards, and Safety & Environmental Compliance
• Ability to travel, make business decisions, and influence and motivate other members of the management team
• Self-motivation, leadership by example, and a high degree of personal integrity

Pay

Compensation: $110,000 - $135,000 per year, depending on experience.

Schedule

On-site position with travel to active construction projects required, including travel throughout the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii based on project assignments and business needs.
