About the role
Cumming Group is seeking a Project Engineer to support a premier K-12 education client in Martinez, CA. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career construction professional to gain hands-on experience representing the owner's interests while working alongside an experienced project management team.
Responsibilities
- Affiliate with the top Project Manager on site in formulation of the design, bid, and Project phase scheduling of the assigned project(s).
- Provide update/status reporting for work in progress including costs and schedules.
- Affiliate in the Addenda and Bid process.
- Administer Project sub-contracts.
- Under the supervision of Project Manager(s) facilitate job site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Under supervision of Project Manager(s) conduct close out activities and assist with building occupancy.
- Affiliate in assisting the project management team with various parts of the project such as constructability review, value engineering, pay app reviews, schedule development, FF&E program development and execution.
- Under supervision of Project Manager, conduct pre-bid and job start meetings.
- Monitor contract compliance and report concerns to Project Manager.
- Under the supervision of Project Manager, facilitate job site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
- Oversee approvals from applicable government agencies are received and documented.
- Under supervision of Project Manager, conduct close out activities and assist with building occupancy.
- Prepares field reporting for review by Project Manager.
- Performs QA/QC process.
- Reviews change orders for completeness and conformance to company and client standards.
- Reviews RFIs/Submittals for completeness before distribution to design team.
- Provides basic CPM scheduling and budget management.
- Reviews and maintains As Built drawings.
- Attendance at work during normal business hours.
Qualifications
- Experience with design & bid formulation and project phase scheduling.
- Experience with the Addenda and Bid process.
- Ability to facilitate site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
- Ability to communicate with various stakeholders, internal and external to the company.
- Demonstrate an understanding of how project documentation impacts the project flow.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Utilize effective written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Engineering, or related field, a combination of education and work experience will also be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in project construction.
- DSA or Public Project Experience Required.
