About the role
We are currently seeking a Project Engineer III – Water/Wastewater to join our Louisville, KY or Indianapolis, IN offices. This position is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer with 8+ years of experience who is ready to take on greater technical leadership responsibilities while supporting project management and mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering design activities related to water and wastewater infrastructure and site development projects.
- Perform site and utility design using Civil 3D and/or Carlson Civil Suite within the AutoCAD platform.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, technical analyses, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents.
- Aid in the preparation of engineering reports, studies, and system evaluations.
- Coordinate with project managers and design teams to develop detailed construction documents.
- Support the development of professional services proposals and technical submissions.
- Research and apply local, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to project design.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide technical guidance to junior staff as needed.
- Provide technical mentorship and design guidance to junior engineers and designers.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kentucky required; ability to obtain licensure in additional states preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in water/wastewater, municipal infrastructure, or site development engineering.
- Experience with water distribution, wastewater collection, pump stations, and treatment infrastructure.
- Experience working with municipal, state, or federal clients preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson Civil Suite, and/or MicroStation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within project teams.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
