Project Engineer III- Mechanical
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer III to join our Engineering & Design team in Denver, CO.
About the Role
Mechanical Project Engineer III positions at McKinstry are responsible for combining innovative problem solving with common sense design applications. They focus on the construction of a building, but also consider how it will operate over its entire lifetime. Every design choice is made toward one goal – delivering high-performance buildings that ensure occupant comfort and safety, keep energy/operating costs low, maximize client profitability, and protect the environment.
Responsibilities
- Project Management Documents project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.
- Learns and follows McKinstry Engineering standards and procedures.
- Contributes to tasks on multiple projects and timelines concurrently.
- Manages own workload to deliver assigned tasks on time and in the budget.
- Identifies training, coaching, and support needed to complete assigned tasks.
- Develops familiarity in mechanical systems design, including calculations, airside systems, piping systems, equipment selection and multi-discipline coordination.
- Performs engineering calculations, design, and drafting tasks.
- Produces design drawings and building information models for construction.
- Pursues an understanding of the technical foundation of design activities and decisions.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of HVAC design experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline required or equivalent work experience required.
- Onsite construction experience considered and welcome.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Knowledge of Revit required.
- Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python, InDesign, IES-VE, and/or other software tools welcome.
- Engineering in Training Certificate preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of other CAD/BIM tools welcome.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Proficiency in mechanical systems design and engineering calculations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines effectively.

Pay and Schedule
The pay range for this position is $39.20 - $62.31 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is considered non-exempt and will be paid hourly. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
Schedule
This position is typically full-time, but may require some flexibility to meet project deadlines.
