As a Project Engineer II for Milwaukee, you will be utilizing your engineering skills and project management ability to innovate and execute New Product Development that supports our growing Hand Tools Business Unit.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple small to medium-scale engineering projects.
- Work cross-functionally with global Design, Marketing, Quality & Reliability, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Supply Chain departments in Mexico and LATAM to deliver innovative products that provide efficiency and safety to our end users.
- Develop comprehensive project plans and drive project execution that balance cost, schedule, performance, and risk tradeoffs.
- Monitor & track project progress and provide monthly project status updates to senior management and the project team.
- Regularly visit the manufacturing cells/suppliers to maintain open lines of communication with the cell/suppliers and provide troubleshooting analysis as required.
- Develop and leverage technical prowess to challenge and quickly guide the cross-functional team through risk mitigation, including but not limited to:
- Design for Manufacturing (Injection Molding, Forging, Casting, Stamping, Machining, Grinding, etc.)
- Material selection and heat treatments
- Tolerance stacks and iterative design and part review
- Root cause analysis
Requirements
- Fluency in Spanish preferred
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or educational equivalent is required. Preferred degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to travel internationally & domestically several times a year is required (20% travel).
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience.
- Ability to manage several simultaneous projects is required.
- Highly developed mechanical aptitude is required, including a broad knowledge of engineering materials used in hand tools and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials.
- To be successful in this role, you will need to be a self-starter who has a strong problem-solving skill set and understands design, testing, and manufacturing processes (injection molding, forging, grinding, stamping, heat treatment, machining, etc.).
- Able to provide a candid overview of upcoming workload and comfortable escalating potential resource bottlenecks.
- Understanding of DFMA and various cost drivers associated with materials, labor & overhead is required.
- PMP/CAPM certification is a plus but not required.
