Summary
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Engineer II - Controls with the ability to interact with various staff in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons.
- Implement the pre-construction quality plan and manage testing and inspection processes.
- Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses.
- Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, and Non-Conformance Report.
- Manage, create, and distribute contract documents; establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence).
- Manage submittals: set up register, obtain customer/architect approval, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processing.
- Expedite submittals to align with project schedule; communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Incorporate processes and procedures for project closeout phase; define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents.
- Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods as needed.
- Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members; maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management.
- Minimum of three years related construction experience.
- Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
- Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills.
- Current driver’s license.

Pay
The base pay range for this role is $93,400 - $126,100. (Actual range is higher for Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
