ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Facility planning to identify future capital improvements and comply with regulations.
- Design and construction of regional capital and maintenance projects, including preparing contract documents and cost estimates.
- Oversee design and construction phases, ensuring budget and schedule compliance.
- Coordinate with various departments and external parties to address operational needs.
- Prepare and submit permit applications for construction projects.
- Represent the company at various governmental and industry meetings.
- Establish and maintain positive public relations with key stakeholders.
- Provide engineering due diligence services for acquisitions and developer projects.
- Maintain water system maps, records, and electronic data.
- Review and update ongoing operations programs.
- Assist in training and technology implementation.
- Participate in industry forums and studies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field required.
- Virginia EIT certification and ability to obtain P.E. license within 4 years.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in hydraulic modeling, planning, and analysis of water distribution and sewer collection systems.
- Familiarity with modeling software platforms (e.g., WaterGems, WaterCAD, EPA et, InfoWorks/Infowater).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Team player with effective multi-tasking abilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Familiarity with hydraulic modeling and planning software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
- Experience with GIS and conducting hydraulic field tests.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Sedentary work – occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
- See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
- Operate standard office equipment.
- Travel up to 20% of the time.
