ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Facility planning to identify future capital improvements and comply with regulations.
  • Design and construction of regional capital and maintenance projects, including preparing contract documents and cost estimates.
  • Oversee design and construction phases, ensuring budget and schedule compliance.
  • Coordinate with various departments and external parties to address operational needs.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications for construction projects.
  • Represent the company at various governmental and industry meetings.
  • Establish and maintain positive public relations with key stakeholders.
  • Provide engineering due diligence services for acquisitions and developer projects.
  • Maintain water system maps, records, and electronic data.
  • Review and update ongoing operations programs.
  • Assist in training and technology implementation.
  • Participate in industry forums and studies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field required.
  • Virginia EIT certification and ability to obtain P.E. license within 4 years.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in hydraulic modeling, planning, and analysis of water distribution and sewer collection systems.
  • Familiarity with modeling software platforms (e.g., WaterGems, WaterCAD, EPA et, InfoWorks/Infowater).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Team player with effective multi-tasking abilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Familiarity with hydraulic modeling and planning software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience with GIS and conducting hydraulic field tests.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Sedentary work – occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Operate standard office equipment.
  • Travel up to 20% of the time.
