About the Role

In this position, the employee will, under only general supervision from the Project Manager, exercise independent judgment and discretion to manage the on- and off-site execution of daily project requirements and activities, while flexibly responding to customer demands. Responsibilities may include independent completion of field engineering, programming, and commissioning using preferred approach standards as necessary. The role involves managing cost and budget allocations for projects and activities, maintaining high customer satisfaction, and balancing project demands with financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop personal intellectual and technical product knowledge specific to the needs of the business and projects.
  • Produce controls system design drawings, sequence of operations, and submittals for lower-level control systems while supporting Senior Level Design Engineers for mid-level control systems as required.
  • Research and select control system peripherals and end devices.
  • Read and interpret project construction drawings and specifications to ensure scope compliance.
  • Collaborate with the project team to identify additional options for the customer (e.g., Energy Efficiency, Equipment Interface, and Value Engineering).
  • Develop and maintain internal project construction schedules using software such as MS Project.
  • Manage, support, and provide oversight for all 3rd party commissioning requirements on assigned projects.
  • Oversee the project’s material procurement process and coordinate shipments to the site or other trades.
  • Modify previously produced controls designs to reflect field changes (As-Built drawings).
  • Generate Operation & Maintenance manuals at project close and transition final project documentation to the Engineering group.
  • Manage time and cost budgets for assigned project tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with project team members regarding field issues, obstacles, and information needs, and submit daily/weekly work reports.
  • Manage weekly time allocations across multiple projects for on-time submission of timesheets.
  • Practice safe work habits and participate in office and project-specific safety programs.
  • Attend and complete OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 safety training classes.
  • Take responsibility for completing assigned formal training and development plans.
  • Participate in ongoing personal development, product, and systems knowledge programs.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and any technical school training.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management preferred, and/or 2-5 years of related work and engineering experience in the Controls or Construction Industry.
  • Ability to read construction blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Windows, file structures, AutoCAD, and VISIO.
  • Basic TCP/IP network structure and web navigation skills are desired.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to operate independently, autonomously, and take ownership of assigned tasks and project requirements.
  • Valid California driver’s license.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to operate a computer keyboard and telephone, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds of force, and constantly move up to 10 pounds of force.
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders frequently.
  • Navigate the complexities of construction sites while adhering to safety requirements and policies.

Pay

Competitive wages ranging from $73,000 to $95,000 annually. Actual compensation is determined by factors unique to each candidate, including job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location.
