Project Engineer - Geotechnical

Responsibilities

  • Manage small to medium size projects from start to completion.
  • Prepare proposals for simple to medium large geotechnical engineering projects.
  • Oversee field operations, including utility clearance, subconsultant, driller, and traffic control coordination, and logging activities.
  • Review field boring logs and provide feedback to the loggers.
  • Compile and analyze the field data and laboratory test results.
  • Model problems, perform analysis, and develop solutions.
  • Perform geotechnical engineering analysis, develop recommendation, and prepare accurate reports.
  • Review the labor and other expenses associated with the projects.
  • Prepare and submit accurate invoices regularly and in a timely manner.
  • Contact and follow up with clients on invoicing and status of payment.
  • Affirmatively participate in professional organizations as determined by the Supervisor.
  • Adhere and support the firm’s safety policies.
  • Participate and support the implementation of the firm's Standard Operating Procedures and quality management practices.
  • Immediately notify the Supervisor of all potential disputes that may lead to legal claims or litigation and provide support to settle disputes or defend against litigation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited school is required.
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a relevant field. Management of medium size engineering projects required.
  • Possess a Professional Engineer’s (PE) license in the State of Texas. If the P.E. licenses is obtained from a different state, P.E. license should be obtained in the State of Texas within six months of hiring.
  • Must have a current valid state-issued driver's license and meet the company's auto insurability requirements.
  • Must have excellent communication skills to interact with clients and staff successfully, having clarity and understanding in order to prevent errors.
  • Organizational skills are important in this role to utilize company resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer operations including Microsoft Office and other engineering programs.
