About the role
Janicki Industries is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our growing team at our Layton, Utah facility. This position is located on-site. The Layton Utah facility specializes in machining the largest most complex structures built from carbon fiber composites and aluminum for the aerospace and space exploration markets. The parts produced are installed on today's most advanced fighters, bombers, rockets, and space vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in project development of manufacturing plans, schedules, and quality plans.
- Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports.
- Review customers purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are met.
- Complete Inspection Plans in conjunction with Project Planning and in coordination with Project Management.
- Verify compliance to codes, standards and customer contracts.
- Perform in process and final inspections on customer ordered projects as necessary.
- Organize and monitor Corrective Actions, assist to evaluate and determine Root Cause and Corrective Action Plans.
- Must be able to comply with Safety, 5S, AS9100 and Nadcap Standards and Practices.
- Develop detailed Production Build Plan packages based upon customer process specifications and engineering drawings.
- Maintain heightened awareness of the project schedule for each project as it moves through the value stream in order to meet key project deadlines.
- Facilitate communication and consultation with Program Management, Operations, QA and HR.
- Assist in the execution of a project plan, including the development of Work Orders, materials procurement and organization, preparation of schedules and budgets, and various other project activities.
- Develop and execute high level and detailed project plans, including managing schedules and budgets.
- Work directly with the customer to determine detailed requirements and deliverables, communicate or present to customer on project status or health.
- Actively engage customers and internal teams to ensure progress on all stages of project lifecycle.
- Communicate, consult with, and participate in design and manufacturing support activities.
- Facilitate communication and consultation with production; oversee manufacturing in collaboration with project engineers.
- Complete and understand all quality requirements for projects.
- Enforce 5S and AS9100 Standards and Practices throughout all work performed.
- Develop and maintain a positive strategic relationship with customers to sustain ongoing work and uncover new opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical field is required.
- 4+ years of experience preferable in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities. Must be able to lead a team of engineers to create and execute complex objectives in the manufacturing of products.
- Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Focus, self-motivation and initiative is a must.
- Organizational skills to support management of multiple tasks and activities.
Preferred skills
- Experience with CATIA and NX or equivalent CAD software.
- Proficiency with SAP ERP Software.
- Experience with complex machining in a manufacturing environment, or working within aerospace projects.
Pay & benefits
- Salary range: $83,000 - $145,000, plus discretionary bonus.
