Project Engineer | Estimator (Asphalt)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Review proposals, plans & specifications, attend pre-bid meetings, and perform project site visits to determine scope of work and estimate requirements.
• Prepare quantity take offs, solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, and prepare rough project schedules.
• Submit bid documents and pricing forms in Heavy Bid software.
• Track and manage client document changes and work orders to ensure the project remains within budget.
• Recommend ways to make the job more cost effective.
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with Senior Management assessing the profile risks of each project.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Prior experience in managing/estimating/engineering role on public and private construction projects is preferred.
• Leadership, effective communication and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to estimate multiple projects with proven time management skills.
• Strong work ethic to complete tasks accurately and on time.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to solve problems.
• Experience in reading and analyzing Department of Transportation drawings.

Education and Experience

• 3 years related experience.
• Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software preferred.
