Project Engineer - Diver - Washington, DC
Job Responsibilities
Pennoni is currently initiating a search for a PE Diver to lead Underwater and Topside Inspection Teams. This position will sit out of our Baltimore, MD or Newark, DE office. Use relevant work experience to perform underwater and topside inspections of bridges and waterfront structures located in DE, MD, DC, VA, PA, NJ, and throughout CONUS. Experience with providing emergency response services associated with weather events is also required.
Help ensure the safety of the traveling public through detailed assessments of bridge components and channel conditions below water. Drafts and reviews inspection reports to clearly convey findings to clients. Performs routine maintenance on diving equipment in accordance with Pennoni’s Safe Diving Practices Manual and to manufacturers’ specifications. Generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for equipment maintenance, diving safety, and inspection procedures.
Plans, schedules, and performs bridge inspections in accordance with the requirements of specific bridge owners, but in all cases, in compliance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and OSHA Regulations.
Required Qualifications
Professional Engineer Licensure
7+ years of underwater bridge inspection experience
Meet NBIS Underwater and Topside Team Leader requirements
Commercial Diving (ADCI) Certification
Current USDOT physical ADCI medical examination within last 12 months
Valid state driver’s license
Physically capable of performing field work; including working in inclement weather, climbing slopes and ladders, carrying gear (up to 75 lbs), operating small boats, and using hand and power tools, etc.
Critical interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others
Capable of self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet client objectives
Preferred Qualifications
ADCI Air-diving Supervisor Certification
Prior leadership experience
Proficient in AutoCAD or MicroStation; Microsoft Word and Excel
Structural Design experience with waterfront structures and bridges
Load rating and structural analysis experience
NDT/NDE experience a plus
MDSHA and/or PennDOT experience a plus
Pay
TARGET SALARY RANGE: $120K - $150K (per year)
