Project Engineer - Detroit, MI

Key Job Responsibilities

• Aid Project Manager and Superintendent with daily project execution, including cost control, schedule management, and document coordination.
• Manage and track submittals, RFIs, change requests, and associated logs to ensure timely resolution.
• Support project buyout, subcontract administration, and procurement activities.
• Aid with preparation and maintenance of project schedules, including short-interval planning and look-ahead schedules.
• Maintain oversight of project costs, support forecasting, and assist with quantity tracking and cost reporting.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and design professionals to support construction activities and resolve field issues.
• Prepare and distribute meeting agendas/minutes and follow-up documentation after project meetings.
• Support implementation of project quality control processes and documentation requirements.
• Participate in safety planning, compliance tracking, and site safety initiatives.
• Utilize project management and technology platforms (Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and scheduling software) to support project execution.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned efforts.

Required Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills & Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5+ years of commercial construction experience in a Project Engineer role or similar capacity.
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods, drawing interpretation, and project controls.
• Proficiency with construction technology platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and scheduling software.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
