Responsibilities

  • Enroll in Engineering Mentoring Program for hands-on experience.
  • Receive ongoing, specialized one-on-one training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Assist Project Manager and Superintendent in efficient control and management of the project.
  • Ensure safety and quality programs are executed on the project site.
  • Develop and maintain the critical path project schedule, including ongoing revisions.
  • Prepare and apply short-term look-ahead schedules using Lean Construction techniques.
  • Maintain project documentation and expedite approvals from the Owner, Architect, and Engineers.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents, including plans, specifications, and subcontracts.
  • Aid in the procurement of equipment and materials, tracking, and expediting their delivery.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor performance and interact with them regarding technical and contractual matters.
  • Assist in the preparation of estimates and quotations to obtain project work.
  • Aid in bid preparation, subcontractor/vendor solicitation, evaluation, and award processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 0-3 years of relevant construction internship or post-undergraduate experience.
  • The ability to travel extensively and temporarily reside at the project site for extended periods of time, with travel home two trips per month (not every other week).
  • Travel subsistence pay and travel incentive bonuses may apply.
  • Ambition to grow professionally and acquire new knowledge and skills.

Qualifications

  • Passion for construction across various industries such as retail mall development, entertainment/recreational, hospitality/lodging, office, logistics/distribution, cold storage, manufacturing, and green/LEED building.
  • The ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with a sense of urgency and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills, professional interaction with managers, co-workers, subcontractors, and construction craft employees.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of scheduling, estimating, and takeoff software (Primavera P6, WinEst, On-Screen Takeoff) is a plus.
