We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the successful execution of commercial electrical construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout. This position works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to coordinate project activities, maintain documentation, monitor schedules and budgets, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in commercial construction or electrical contracting who is looking to advance into an Assistant Project Manager and eventually a Project Manager position. Experience supporting healthcare, higher education, industrial, institutional, or other large commercial projects is highly preferred. Responsibilities Support Project Managers in coordinating commercial electrical construction projects from startup through closeoutPrepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement logs, transmittals, and project documentationReview electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and scopes of workCoordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractorsTrack material procurement, equipment deliveries, project milestones, and long-lead itemsAssist with project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, billing, and financial reportingParticipate in project meetings, jobsite visits, and coordination meetings to monitor progress and resolve issuesCollaborate with estimating and BIM/VDC teams to improve project coordination and constructabilityMaintain organized project records, meeting minutes, correspondence, and document control systemsAssist with material takeoffs, procurement planning, and project logisticsHelp resolve field issues, scheduling conflicts, procurement challenges, and coordination concernsSupport commissioning, punch-list completion, project turnover, and final closeout activitiesWork closely with field leadership to ensure crews have the information, materials, and resources needed to maintain productivity Requirements 2+ years of experience in commercial construction, project engineering, or electrical constructionExperience working for an electrical contractor, specialty contractor, or commercial subcontractor is preferredBasic understanding of commercial electrical systems, construction methods, and field operationsFamiliarity with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, scheduling, and construction documentationAbility to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedulesStrong organizational, time management, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environmentComfortable working with office personnel, field teams, clients, and vendorsWillingness to travel to project sites throughout the Detroit metropolitan areaExperience supporting healthcare, hospital, higher education, industrial, institutional, or other complex commercial projects is a plus Benefits Competitive salary based on experiencePerformance-based bonus opportunitiesComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company contributionPaid time off and company holidaysVehicle allowance, where applicableOngoing technical training and professional developmentStructured career path into Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager rolesMentorship from experienced electrical construction professionalsExposure to estimating, BIM/VDC, project management, and field operationsOpportunity to work on large-scale commercial electrical projects with long-term career growth
