Project Engineer - Commercial Construction

About the role

Planning, organizing, and controlling coordination activities. Providing information and ongoing communication to team members. Working with the Project Manager to issue all subcontracts and purchase orders, establish and maintain the project schedule, and ensure job-specific records are maintained and current.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor customer relations, including project/progress meetings, site visits, and project-related correspondence.
• Maintain SDS manuals for BGCI and subcontractors.
• Ensure safety plans for all subcontractors are onsite.
• Ensure all preliminary submittals are approved.
• Set up temporary services such as electric, telephone, internet, dumpsters, and sanitary facilities.
• Assist the Superintendent and Project Manager in procuring and ordering materials for self-performed work to ensure timely arrival onsite.
• Assist the Project Manager in processing contract-related transactions, including Change Orders and Proposed Change Orders to suppliers, subcontractors, and owners.
• Process submittals, RFIs, and ensure all logs are current and correct.
• Supplement and support all team members to ensure project and company success.
• Assist the Project Manager in managing closeout activities such as O&M manual generation, inspections, punch lists, permits, certificate of occupancy, as-builts, warranties, and archiving of project files.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry.
• 4-year degree in a construction-related major.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and comply with the company vehicle safety program.

Skills

• Strong organization, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Understanding of accounting, financial statements, job cost, and cash flow.
