Project Engineer - Commercial Construction

About the role

Baldwin & Shell Construction Company is searching for a Project Engineer to play a key management role in the organization and implementation of industrial-services projects from start to finish. The position reports directly to a Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager.

Responsibilities

• Set up file structure for new jobs and scan documents for cloud storage.
• Take and catalog jobsite photographs.
• Review specifications and set up submittal log in Procore.
• Manage materials: submittals, shop drawings, samples, mock-ups, and expediting deliveries.
• Work closely with Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager on claims for costs and time impacts during the submittal phase.
• Manage and update Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Maintain and update digital construction plans.
• Ensure work is built to the most current drawings, specifications, addenda, and standards.
• Perform on-site quality-control reviews with the Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure adherence to project specifications.
• Assist in preparation of weekly schedule updates and participate in LEAN construction planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, plus at least 1 year of experience in construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience in commercial construction.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Project.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including client presentations and field-operations management.
• Strong documentation, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to perform under pressure.
• Ability to study, understand, and communicate project plans and specifications.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time (typically one week per month).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Procore, Vista, Docuware, Bluebeam, and Adobe Pro.
• Experience with digital take-off or estimating software.
