About the role

Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) Detroit office is looking for an experienced Project Engineer - Civil Design (P.E. License required) to join their Team!

We are a leading engineering firm known for quality, responsiveness, and a proven track record of success as a Prime civil engineering firm.

Essential Duties/Functions and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and interprets various technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Affixes assistance to Project Manager with the preparation of complex design computations, plans, and related construction documents.
  • Familiarity with MDOT experience including plan development.
  • Affixes assistance to Project Manager with handling contract administration with clients and sub-consultants.
  • Affixes assistance to Project, Design, and/or Office Managers as requested.
  • Ensures that project documents and files are organized.
  • Maintains oversight of work-in-process and affixes assistance to directing and/or supervising the work of other engineers' activities on projects.
  • Presents technical information to colleagues and clients.
  • Presents engineering and design documents using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
  • Affixes assistance to coordinating staff activities to ensure project budget, schedule, and quality goals are achieved.
  • Visits construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.

Working Conditions

  • IEI will provide a company vehicle for fieldwork with acceptable driver's record.
  • Must be physically capable of walking and moving about on the construction sites, have good hand-eye coordination, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or in-progress construction hazards: fumes, toxic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and vibration. Often works around dust, asphalt, and concrete.
  • Sometimes needs to put in extra hours, including weekends, to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents.
  • Sometimes spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports.
  • Sometimes works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime.
  • Sometimes works in outside weather conditions.

Pay Range

$83,000 - $130,000 per year
