The Cathode Advanced Manufacturing Project team at Tesla is seeking a Project Engineer to support the Pilot scale facilities in Fremont, CA. This role involves coordinating with various departments including Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Production Planning, Operations, and external partners.
What You'll Do
- Work with Cathode Engineering, Factory Design, Quality, Operations, and other supporting functions to scope and drive designs for deployment of materials for production equipment.
- Determine project specifications and acquire the necessary materials for completion.
- Define project scope and define parameters for project design and implementation.
- Identify and define tasks to be performed by the cross-functional team.
- Drive review and selection of external equipment vendors and integrators for delivery of selected manufacturing project scope.
- Coordinate internal and external engineering findings to de-risk plant design and optimize plant operations and availability.
- Track budget, equipment orders, and change order logs.
What You'll Bring
- Evidence of exceptional ability, including a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to solve challenging technical problems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years in manufacturing environment, in a mix of engineering and project roles. Experience working on the development of chemical processing is a plus.
- Direct experience in planning medium capital projects (>$250 K USD) related to pilot-scale chemical processing systems, utility systems, and integration of the two.
- Ability to work and communicate cross-functionally, including interfacing with suppliers and third-party firms.
- Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, occasionally requiring extended hours.
- Aptitude to learn and incorporate new technologies.
- Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.

Expected Compensation
The expected compensation range for this position is $96,800 - $168,000 annually, with details of participation in benefits provided upon employment.
